Roberto Lara

Roberto Lara, a classically trained dancer, has established himself as a talented choreographer producing works that have been featured in a number of international art festivals, such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (U.S.), Lincoln Center Out of Doors (U.S.), Fall Season Festival (Spain), and the Monaco Dance Forum. Mr. Lara’s most recent work, Dia de los Muertos, debuted at New York City’s Town Hall Center to favorable reviews by venerable media institutions such as the New York Times.

Mr. Lara, a native of Mexico City, has danced with Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Compañía Nacional de Danza (México), Compañia Rosas (México), Kamea Dance Company (Be’er-Sheva, Israel), and Ballet Hispanico (U.S.). Mr. Lara was a soloist for the internationally acclaimed Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, and toured throughout the Americas, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Asia from 2006 to 2013.

As a young dancer, he received the gold medal for classical pas de deux, and silvers for classical variation and contemporary solo at the International Dance Competition of the Inter-American Federation of Dance Professionals.

Mr. Lara is currently artistic director of dance at Midtown Arts Common | Saint Peter’s Church, Manhattan, and dancer at The New York Baroque Dance Company. He is also a member of the  American Guild of Musical Artists, and the prestigious International Council of Dance (an official partner organization of UNESCO).
