Dancers

The NYBDC has mentored many dancers in the field of historical dance including  Thomas Baird, Carlos Fittante, Luisa Meshekoff, Hugh Murphy, Ken Pierce and Paige Whitley Bauguess. Dancers in the company are taught to read the Feuillet dance notation and are encouraged to do their own research and dance reconstruction in addition to becoming proficient in historical performance practice.  The NYBDC is unique in dance companies around the world because the dancers actively work with a dance notation system and can prepare for rehearsals in the same way a chamber music ensemble studies the music score before meeting in rehearsal.
