Justin Coates joined the New York Baroque Dance Company in 2010. He now resides in Los Angeles, CA.
On the western frontier, Justin has found baroque opportunities setting a Folies d’Espagne for American Contemporary Ballet, choreographing and performing for Musical Oratory Foundation, and can always be found assisting and participating in the NYBDC’s Historical Dance Workshops.
Performances with the company include Zephyre, the French Festival at Hillwood Estate, Museum, & Gardens, the International Handel Festival production of Teseo, and Pygmalion at the Potsdam Music Festival. Other Baroque credits include the Boston Early Music Festival production of Dido & Aeneas, as well as The Cunning Man, with choreography by NYBDC’s own Caroline Copeland.
As a modern dancer, Justin has had the pleasure of working in both New York City and Los Angeles with numerous companies, including Pennington Dance Group, ArtistsPlus, VIA Dance Collective, Anabella Lenzu DanceDrama, and Dusan Tynek Dance Theatre. Justin is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College.
