Celebrate early American music and dance through the vibrant works of Francis Johnson, a pioneering African American composer and bandleader, performed with period instruments and historic choreography.
Created by Alan Jones and Julia Bengtsson, this program recreates popular dances from the early 19th century, featuring dancers from The New York Baroque Dance Company accompanied by musicians from the Music of the Regiment—an ensemble dedicated to the study and performance of 18th and 19th century European and American military music.
